UUFM Board Meeting    Wednesday, April 1, 2020

 

The meeting was held via Zoom at 6:30.

 

Present: Ken Moore, Kris Gabrielsen, Jisun Lee, Susan Marrant, Cheryl Martin, Jay Nelson, Meghan O’Flaherty, Nancy Schick

 

Planning While Social Distancing is in Effect

 

Jisun and Jay updated us on where we are and where we are heading in the near future. Every Sunday, there will be a virtual gathering – either for a formal service or a simplified one. Groups and committees will also meet virtually.

 

Jisun announced that on Saturday, April 4 there will be an online training in using Zoom. Ken asked Jisun to prepare a summary of our plans.

 

Cheryl asked how we can best contact members of the congregation. At this time, two people are calling members, but we do not have all the info on how this is going.

 

We decided to establish an Outreach Committee. Several members have already volunteered to personally contact members. Meghan offered to coordinate this and to get a plan into operation.

 

Ken will prepare an electronic letter from the Board to the congregation. The letter will include how we will use Zoom for services and meetings, how to make donations to UUFM, a report from the minister search committee, and a financial report.

 

Search Committee

Kris gave a report on the status of our search for a minister. More information will be released, according to UUA guidelines, as we move through this process.

Financial Report

Cheryl noted that our finances are in good shape, even though our Headwater investments are, understandably, not doing as well as they have in the past. We will be getting a refund from the Senior Center since we are not using that facility. As of now, we will pay employees through April.

Until further notice, Cheryl will be able to sign checks greater than 1,000 dollars without a second signature. She will notify the Board every time she does this.

The next Board meeting will be on Wednesday, April 8, via Zoom.
