UUFM Fellowship Business Meeting – March 1, 2009
Kris Gabrielsen announced the agenda and promised to take
thirty minutes to discuss the various items.
There were 26 members and friends present.
- Our
status as an Emerging Congregation was explained. By holding off full
membership in the UUA it gives us the time to build up a reserve fund for
our future growth. Kris expects us
to be ready in 2010. The advantages of full membership include voting
rights at UUA meetings, District assistance in looking for a full-time
minister, and access to grant opportunities.
- Beverly
Halverson supplied a budget report.
She feels that we are in good shape and explained that our fiscal
year runs from July 1st to June 30th. Her report is attached.
- Pledge
Drive is about to start. Ken Moore is heading this committee and will be
in touch with us all very soon.
- Bev
Halverson will be contacting the committee chairs soon to get their budget
proposals for the next fiscal year.
- The
Alien Day Parade will be held on May 16th. All are invited to
participate. Contact Susan Marrant if you are interested in participating.
- Our
Annual Meeting will be held on May 17th after the service.
- The
Reverend Keith Kron will be our speaker on April 5th. There
will be a workshop after the Service at Beth Dell’s house. Reverend Kron
will lead it and advise us on how to become a Welcoming Congregation. Child Care will be provided at the
Gabrielsens. Notice of need for Child Care should be given two weeks in
advance to determine the need for it. Bring a brown bag lunch for yourself
to the workshop. RSVP to Beth Dell
by e-mail.
- There
is a real need for more commitment on the part of more of the Fellowship’s
members and friends. The importance of filling leadership roles to avoid
burn-out on the part of the present leadership is vital. Kris will write a
letter to the Fellowship asking for help and listing the various
committees and roles that need fuller participation.
- Patriciafaye
suggested that we need to revisit our vision and define our roles. This is
a conversation that will take place during the Pledge Drive. The need for
a Fellowship Retreat this summer was agreed to by consensus.
- It was
decided by the group that it would be useful to hold business meetings on
a quarterly basis. The Annual Meeting will count as one of the quarterly
meetings.
- Dawn
Williamson volunteered to start and maintain a library for the Fellowship.
