Special Board Meeting – November 9, 2008

Present: Bergen , Bloom, Dell, Gabrielsen, Marrant and Fellowship member Paul Timmer

Kris Gabrielsen called the meeting to order at 4:15.

The Board was meeting to vote on the motion that our services will be held at 10:30 on Sunday mornings instead of 5:30 Sunday afternoon. At our last service, held on November 2, the Fellowship voted to allow the Board to decide this matter. Minutes of that meeting are attached.

After a short explanation of the circumstances around this decision, Kris Gabrielsen asked for a motion. Leah Bloom moved that our services should be changed to 10:30 A.M. starting in January 2009. Susan Marrant seconded the motion. The Board voted unanimously to pass the motion, with proxies supplied by Bernie McGinnis and Bev Halverson.

Paul Timmer asked about getting speakers from other religions. Kris explained that we are concentrating on inviting Unitarian Universalist speakers right now as a way to educate our Fellowship members and visitors about our faith. But that we anticipate in years to come that we will bring in speakers from all religious traditions.

Beth will add a blurb to her e-mail for the November 16 service encouraging members to bring friends. Rick Davis will be speaking on the life and beliefs of Theodore Parker. Parker was one of the founders of the Unitarian Church in the 19th century.

Kris Gabrielsen adjourned the meeting at 4:40 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Pamela H. Bergen , Secretary
