MINUTES
FIRST
ANNUAL MEETING
UNITARIAN
UNIVERSALIST FELLOWSHIP OF MCMINNVILLE
MAY
18, 2008
Kris
Gabrielsen called the meeting to order and established a quorum.
Eric
Gabrielsen read the 2008-2009 candidates for Board of Directors and for
Nominating committee and opened the floor for additional nominations. None were
added. Paper ballots were distributed and the membership voted.
Kris
led a discussion of the proposed budget for 2008-2009. Several amendments were
proposed and approved:
*Worship Committee:
*Additional $200.00 for
Music
*Add $300 for new
category, "Copies"
*Remove Singing Bowl
item (already purchased) and move that $75.00 to Hymnals
*Religious Education for Children:
*Add additional $600.00
to Room Rental
The
amended budget for 2008-2009 was passed unanimously.
Kris
asked for opinions and input on changing our meeting to morning at some time in
the near future. Some preferred the traditional morning time which is not full
of other commitments for most people and does not interfere with "school
night" routines. For other families, Sunday morning is the only leisurely
morning because of children’s other activities on Saturday. There was concern
about waiting too late to make a change and about those who have been able to
attend both a morning and evening service if we remain in the evening. It was
also mentioned there are more UU ministers available to speak on Sunday
evenings. It was decided that further discussion and contemplation was needed,
so it was agreed to revisit this topic during our Fellowship retreat.
A
majority of those present would be interested in attending a Fellowship retreat
on June 29th.
Results
of the election were announced:
*
Board of Directors: Pam Bergen, Leah Bloom, Beth Dell, Kris Gabrielsen, Bev Halverson, Susan Marrant,
Bernie McGinnis
*
Nominating Committee: Marcia Blevins, Madeline Bishop, Elaine Taylor;
Alternates: Lynn Hughes and Barb Roush
Kris
updated the Fellowship on:
*
UUA Membership - We are aiming to have our application ready to submit on Dec.
6th.
*
501(c)3 Application - Hopefully we will fall under the
UUA's 501(c)3 status so that we won’t have to apply ourselves. We should have
confirmation of that shortly from the Pacific Northwest District office.
The
meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully
submitted,
Beth
