Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of McMinnville Service – April 13, 2008

Facilitator – John Casey – Gave a reading and introduced Kris Gabrielsen who welcomed us all and gave a brief history of our first year.

Announcements: Patriciafaye Marshall announced a book group starting April 26th at Bernie McGinnis’s house - a six week study of “The Soul of Money”. Michelle Cotner is starting a study group for Humanism. Sign up sheets for both groups are available after our service today.

Madeline Bishop led us in “Spirit of Life” and the Chalice was lit. The UUCS Choir sang “A New Day” and

John Casey introduced our speaker, The Reverend Richard Davis from the UU Congregation of Salem. In concluding his sermon Reverend Davis presented our Fellowship with a stained glass replica of a window from their church and donated $500.00 for us to start a building fund. He emphasized the need for us to look forward and start planning for a home of our own.

Birthdays – Megan Smith led us in wishing Happy Birthday to Megan Smith, Eric Gabrielsen, Madeline Bishop and Anna Marrant.

The UUCS Choir sang “Dream On the River” John Casey gave a reading and extinguished the Chalice.

Kris Gabrielsen made a few business announcements: Copies of the budget for 2008-2009 are available for all to take home and study with a number of highlighted line items. The list of nominees for 2008-2009 Board are also available. We are now covered for insurance purposes by Church Mutual Insurance Company thanks to the work done by Bernie McGinnis and Liz Alexander. A Personal Conduct Policy has been put together by Eric Gabrielsen and Barbara Roush. Heartfelt thanks were extended to Richard Davis and the UUCS Choir for their participation in our service and for their generous gifts to our Fellowship.

The closing song was led by Madeline Bishop. There were thirty three persons present (plus twenty from the UUCS Choir). $439.75 was collected.
